DMCA Policy

Last updated:

SnipStream respects the rights of copyright owners and expects its users to do the same. This policy explains how to report content you believe infringes your copyright and how users can respond, following the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512).

What SnipStream hosts

SnipStream is a tool that lets users cut a section of a YouTube video they choose. We do not search for, index or promote videos. Clips are stored temporarily for the user who made them (24 hours on the Free plan) and can be made public only through a share link the user creates. Those share links are what this policy usually applies to.

Reporting infringement (takedown notice)

If you believe a clip or share link on SnipStream infringes your copyright, send a written notice through our contact page with the subject "DMCA Notice". To be valid, the notice must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or a person authorized to act for them.
  2. A description of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed.
  3. The SnipStream URL of the clip or share link (for example snipstream.app/s/…), so we can find it.
  4. Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for them.

When we receive a valid notice we will remove or disable the clip and its share link, and let the user who created it know.

Counter-notice

If your clip was removed and you believe this was a mistake or that you had the right to use the material, you can send a counter-notice through the contact page with the subject "DMCA Counter-Notice". It must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. The removed clip and the URL where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district where SnipStream may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.

We will forward the counter-notice to the person who filed the original notice. If they do not tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the content.

Repeat infringers

We will suspend or close the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright.

Misuse

Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, can make you liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). If you are unsure whether content infringes your rights, consider getting legal advice first.

Not affiliated with YouTube

SnipStream is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube or Google. To report content hosted on YouTube itself, use YouTube's own copyright tools.
